Add a staff break type

In this article, we explain how to add a new break type for use on staff rosters.

Staff break types control how breaks appear on rosters and how they’re treated for pay and reporting. You may need to add a new break type when introducing different break rules, pay codes, or visual identifiers on the roster. Defining break types correctly helps ensure accurate scheduling and payroll processing.

To create a new break type, follow these steps:

  1. Click Setup.

  2. Click Breaks.

  3. In the Show breaks for field, select Staff.

  4. Click Add.

  5. Enter a name in the Break description field.

  6. Enter a paycode if required.

  7. Select the required checkboxes to define how the break behaves.

  8. Choose a colour to display the break on the roster.

  9. Click Save.
